Anne Schmid

Anne Schmid was born in western Switzerland and was trained as a singer by Liane von Scarpatetti in Fribourg. At the Bern College of Music and Drama she graduated as a concert pianist under the tuition of Elisabeth Glauser and continued her studies with Horst Günther in Freiburg, Germany, and Stefan Haselhof in Basel. As a freelance alto singer, she focusses on her own independent productions in addition to her concert engagements. She regularly devises wide-ranging programmes for various chamber music ensembles, each with a specific focus. She works with ensembles such as London Baroque, Die Freitagsakademie, Duo stimme&oboe, Trio Synfloreszenz, Phantasticke Spirites and Arcomelos to entertain intrigued audiences with regular performances of Baroque, chamber and contemporary music. She also gives solo performances and takes part in opera productions. She has guested in performances of Bach's cantatas at the Predigerkirche in Basel and at various music festivals in Europe and the USA. She has been involved in concert recordings on Swiss and German radio and in CD recordings of Berthold Hipp's Heliotropium Mysticum 1671 and Tomás Luis de Victoria's Tenebrae Responsories, released by Dorian Recordings. In 2013 the CD Peter Streiff Vokal/Instrumental was released by Wandelweiser in co-production with Radio SRF.
